Ruth Langsford gushes over 'wonderful' Eamonn Holmes on his 61st birthday after ITV snub

Ruth Lansgford has paid tribute to her "wonderful" husband Eamonn Holmes on his 61st birthday.

The telly presenter, 60, gushed over her man as the pair did their best to cheer themselves up after recently finding out that ITV is set to replace their Friday slot on This Morning.

Sharing an intimate moment on Eamonn's special day, Ruth took to Instagram to share the sweet snap with her fans.

"Happy Birthday to my wonderful, handsome, kind, generous, clever, big hearted and incredibly funny husband @eamonnholmes Love you," she penned, alongside a heart emoji.

Eamonn replied to the sweet post, writing: "Well that's a very nice thing to say .... albeit true. Here's to a Birthday vaccine for all."

Though Ruth was seen smiling in the snap, Eamonn seemingly had a more sombre exterior.

Naturally, the sweet snap saw fans flock to the comments section as they showered Eamonn with birthday wishes.

Melanie Sykes penned: "Happy birthday @eamonnholmes you bundle of joy xxxx love to you too Ruthie xxxx."

Meanwhile Amanda Holden and Ola Jordan also took to the comments section to send their birthday wishes.

The pair were reportedly devastated to learn of their axe from This Morning (ITV)

Ruth and Eamonn were recently hit with the news that Alison Hammond, 45, and Dermot O'Leary, 47, will be replacing them on the hit ITV morning show.

The pair reportedly believe their axe from the programme was spurred on because of their age.

And as Eamonn and Ruth try to understand the reason behind ITV bosses' decision to give their usual Friday slot to another duo, sources have claimed the married couple believe the decision was to do with their age.

An insider told OK! mag: “The viewers love them, but Eamonn has said to Ruth he wonders if it’s because they’re both 60 and too old."

“It’s a real shame," added the source who asked if the couple were not "young or cool enough" to present the daytime show.

“Ruth and Eamonn are both telly legends – they’ve done it all, so it seems unfair," they mused.
