Ruth Langsford forced to explain as Loose Women airs 'best bits' goodbye to host

Ruth Langsford had to explain why she was being given a Loose Women send off this week.

The ITV show host was back on screen on Wednesday and during the show, a 'best bits' tribute aired to say goodbye.

But Ruth isn't going away permanently.

Denise Welch introduced the tribute, commenting: "I think we would all feel very guilty if we didn't remind the viewers that Ruth, of course, is leaving us for the summer to go next door to join her darling husband and do her summer of This Morning.

"So we thought we would give you a little surprise and show you your Ruth's best bits."

After the video package aired, Ruth explained: "I'm not leaving , because normally when you do a best bits everyone goes, 'Thank you, it's been lovely working with you.'

"I'm going next door, Eamonn and I will be on This Morning for about six weeks then I will be back.

"But I'll be talking to you all every day because we do the handovers!"

The husband and wife presenting duo will front the ITV daytime hit over the summer.

It comes after outraged fans of the pair complained when Ruth and Eamonn didn't present This Morning earlier this month for half-term.

The couple were dropped from their Friday This Morning at the start of this year in place of Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary and it was revealed they'd only present the show during school holidays.

But fans can look forward to nearly two months of seeing the pair on-screen.

Ruth, 61, told OK! Magazine last week: "We'll be doing seven weeks from July. I’m looking forward to it."
