Lockdown has begun to ease and they took the first opportunity they could to spend quality time together.

Her mum Joan, 88, has been living in assisted accommodation and she has finally been able to reunite with her daughter Ruth at her family home.

This Morning star Ruth could barely contain her excitement at having her elderly mum over for a bite to eat.

In a gushing message, she told fans she was proud to call Joan her mum.

"Over a year since she’s stepped inside our house and she’s still full of beans, preparing vegetables, enjoying a Sherry and dancing away to @mrantondubeke!!

"She’s an amazing woman and I’m proud to call her my Mum."

In the kitchen, Ruth toasted with a glass of wine and Joan had a sherry as they enjoyed catching up.

Recently, ITV's presenter told of her heartbreak at having to wear gloves and an apron to be able to see her mum.

For some of the pandemic, they were only able to touch through a window.
