Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes to start 'TV war' over This Morning axe

Ruth Langsford and Eamonn Holmes are reportedly 'not afraid to start a TV war' to win back their This Morning slot.

The husband and wife duo, both 60, are set to be replaced by Alison Hammond and Dermot O'Leary amid a major ITV shake-up.

Ruth and Eamonn reportedly feel 'angry' that they will no longer be hosting the show every Friday and plan to front a rival show on a different channel, according to an insider.

The TV pair have reportedly had plenty of offers to start their own talk show and could ditch ITV altogether.

The TV insider told  Heat:  "They are now planning their own TV talk show to rival This Morning, hopefully on the BBC or Channel 4.

"They’ve had lots of offers from TV companies who are keen to snap them up, and neither of them are afraid to start a TV war, just like Richard and Judy did when they went to Channel 4.

"Still, they’re really angry with how they have been treated."

Despite rumours the TV couple could exit the ITV studios, a source said are reportedly hoping they can win back their This Morning slot due to fan support.

A source close to pair told New! Magazine:“Theres been no confirmation of the changes, so Ruth and Eamonn are both holding on to the hope they could win back their slot," the source shared with the outlet.

"They hope the public outcry will change the bosses’ minds to that they could do a Monday show or the Wednesday and then Alison and Dermot could sod the Friday.”

Responding to the claims, a This Morning spokesperson told the magazine: “We have a stellar presenting line-up on This Morning in Holly and Phillip and Eamonn and Ruth.

"Any additions to this line up will be announced in due course.

Last Friday, Eamonn and Ruth let viewers know that they have not been let go from This Morning yet.

As they wrapped the episode, Eamonn said: "Thanks for watching today folks! We will be back next Friday to do it all again!"

The TV veteran then went on to thank fans for their support as he added: "We couldn’t do it all without you!"

* This Morning airs weekdays on ITV at 10am
