Ruth Jones has left Gavin and Stacey fans gutted by revealing why there AREN'T any plans for more episodes.
Gavin & Stacey's Christmas Special was the most watched TV show of last year, attracting some 18.5 million viewers to BBC1 on Christmas Day, well ahead of any other show on TV on December 25.
We were all left wondering if Smithy would accept Nessa's shock proposal and we still are.
Months after Gavin and Stacey won the Landmark accolade at this year's National Television Awards, it returned to primetime TV when the BBC aired repeats during the peak of lockdown.
But it doesn't look like we'll be finding out exactly what happened on THAT fishing trip anytime soon or indeed if Nessa said yes after Nessa actress and writer Ruth Jones confirmed that no future episodes are currently in the work.
She was put on the spot about the smash hit comedy's future during an appearance on Lorraine but had some bad news for fans.
Ruth told Lorraine Kelly: "I wish I could say yes but the truth is, as has always been the case, James and I love to write together in the same room and that's just not possible at the moment obviously, because he's in America and I'm in the UK.
"So, you know, there aren't any plans at the moment but who knows?"
Ruth shot down speculation she'd been bus writing more Gavin and Stacey during lockdown on Monday's One Show when she told hosts Alex Jones and Gethin Jones: ""Do you know what? I could comment on that, and it'll be in the press tomorrow.
"I'm not gonna say anything. I'm gonna let people just speculate... but we didn't."
