Every time you think Rutgers has reached its nadir, the Scarlet Knights show there is no bottom.
They were pasted by Indiana Saturday, 35-0, in a Big Ten game and quarterback Johnny Langan produced arguably the worst stat line for any QB at any level in football history.
Yes, the Scarlet Knights’ redshirt freshman from Wayne, NJ, managed to complete five passes for the grand total of one yard. One, stinkin’, yard. After sacks, he wound up with three yards on 13 rushing attempts.

The Hoosiers outgained the Scarlet Knights, 557-75, had 25 first downs to Rutgers’ 6. Somehow, the Scarlet Knights won the turnover battle, 2-1.
Sophomore quarterback Art Sitkowski already has chosen to redshirt after playing in the first few games. McLane Carter has been forced to retire for medical reasons after suffering a concussion in September.
Since starting the season with a 48-21 victory over UMass, Rutgers has lost five straight, by the combined score of 195-23, and seen coach Chris Ash fired and replaced by Nunzio Campanile, a New Jersey high school legend.
The only possible game it seems to have a chance to win on its remaining schedule is against Liberty. And at that, ESPN gives Liberty a 56 percent chance of victory.
