Rutgers’ Greg Schiano ‘Ticked Off’ About Report Connecting Program to Michigan Scandal

The Michigan sign-stealing scandal continues to grow, with the latest reports that the Wolverines had their own signs decoded by opponents. SI’s Richard Johnson and Pat Forde revealed documents on Tuesday showing that Big Ten opponents sent Michigan’s decoded signals to Purdue ahead of the 2022 Big Ten Championship game.

While the opponents weren’t revealed, reporters asked Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano about whether the Scarlet Knights were involved. However, Schiano declined to answer that question, instead saying he was upset he had to give this story attention.

“I’m very confident in the way we handle our business. I’m not going to get into specifics about something that is not my issue,” Schiano said, via NJ.com. “This is not my issue. Let the people handle it whose issue it is.”

Rutgers head coach Greg Schiano said he is “ticked off” over being asked about the Michigan sign-stealing investigation.

Instead, Schiano wanted to continue focusing on this week’s game against Iowa, but not before he told reporters how frustrating this entire situation is for Rutgers.

“I’m sticking to one thing: Iowa,” he said. “I gave you my feelings on the whole subject. Quite frankly, I’m a little bit ticked off that we have to talk about this. This isn’t our problem.”

Rutgers is currently 6-3 on the season, already bowl-eligible and this year marks the first time they hit the six-win mark since 2014. In 2022, the Scarlet Knights played Michigan in early November and lost 31-7. Including this year, Rutgers has lost nine of their last 10 games against the Wolverines.
