Rustic Italian with a twist

Jamie's Italian Bangkok is all about freshness and goodness, despite all the negative press in the UK. With pastas made from scratch by head chef Alex Barman, (the Bottene machines are in the restaurant for your viewing pleasure), the menu at Jamie's has recently been updated for lunch and dinner.

Offering excellent value for money, the sets are inspired by Italian eating traditions and are designed for sharing between two and include healthy options.

The new lunch set consists of Soup of the day served with toasted ciabatta. This is followed by a Primi (Italian for the course between starters and mains, typically pasta or risotto) of Vongole linguine with steamed clams, garlic, chilli and capers in a white wine sauce, as well as Caprese salad with oozy burrata, heritage and sundried tomatoes and basil pesto. The Secondi (Italian for main course) consists of sustainably-sourced (it's the trend, innit?) tuna steak with smashed avocado, heritage tomatoes, basil and extra virgin olive oil. Priced at B1,190, the set feeds two. Still hungry? Add a pizza for B250.

The set dinner menu starts off with Jamie's Italian signature Antipasti plank, filled with a selection of cold cuts and cheeses such as fennel salami, mortadella, prosciutto and wagyu bresaola, as well as mini mozzarella and aged pecorino, all served with chilli jam, pickles, olives and rainbow slaw. The Primis consist of Wild mushroom risotto made with Carnaroli rice, roasted wild mushrooms, seasonal greens and mozzarella, and Jamie's Italian Prawn linguine with garlicky prawns, tomatoes, fennel, saffron, chilli and fresh rocket. For Secondis, choose either a Sirloin steak with heritage tomato salsa and rocket and Parmesan salad; Pork chop from Sloane's served with parsley bagna cauda (literally translated as a "hot bath" or better known to the average person -- dip), apple, lemon and kohlrabi; or Fish of the Day, with mussels white wine, capers and white crabmeat. This is priced at B1,490 for two. Add a glass of Italian wine or draught beer for B180.

Forget pub grub this Sunday and head over to Jamie's Italian. Yes, you read that right. The traditional British roast has made its way to the menu at Jamie's Italian on weekends. Served with all the trimmings, including rosemary roast potatoes, roasted root vegetables, Yorkshire pudding and, of course, gravy, the roast is a choice between pork, steak, chicken, lamb or a vegetarian option with quinoa, squash and mushroom.

The lunch and dinner sets are available Monday to Friday 11.30am-5pm and 5pm-10pm. The weekend roast is available Saturday and Sunday or until sold out.
