This is the moment Russian state TV announced the defeat of Kremlin ally Viktor Orbán in Hungary’s election.
A presenter on Channel One delivered the results while alleging that Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky had interfered in the vote.
“European hawks, and with them the head of the Kyiv regime, went out of their way to get rid of Orbán, a politician with a principled position who defended national interests, no matter the cost,” the broadcaster said.
Hungarian opposition leader Peter Magyar declared victory on Sunday (12 April), after his Tisza party claimed a landslide win over Orbán’s ruling Fidesz party, thanking supporters for believing change was possible.
