Russian Man Rescued After Surviving Two Months At Sea

A Russian man was rescued in the stormy Sea of Okhotsk after surviving for more than two months in a tiny inflatable boat that lost its engine, but tragically, his brother and nephew did not make it. The survivor, a 46-year-old man, was found by a fishing vessel off the Kamchatka Peninsula on Monday.

The trio had embarked on a journey to watch whales in the Sea of Okhotsk in early August. They went missing on their way back to Sakhalin Island on August 9. Despite a rescue effort, they could not be located until the recent discovery.

Reports indicate that the men had a small food ration and limited water supply when their engine malfunctioned, leaving them adrift in the harsh conditions of the Sea of Okhotsk. The survivor, who lost half of his body weight during the ordeal, was found weighing only about 50 kilograms.

The fishing vessel initially mistook the inflatable boat for debris but upon closer inspection, they were astonished to find the emaciated survivor desperately calling for help. A video released by the prosecutor's office captured the dramatic rescue as the crew pulled the man to safety.

The survivor, upon being rescued, expressed his exhaustion, stating, 'I have no strength left.' The incident has prompted an investigation by authorities on charges of safety rule violations that led to the deaths of the man's brother and nephew.
