A man who died after a crash involving three vehicles in Surrey was a Russian billionaire tycoon, according to media reports in Russia.
The man, identified as 49-year-old businessman Dmitry Obretetsky, died following a collision while walking his dog in Oxshott.
Surrey Police have confirmed the collision took place around 4.45pm on 25 November and a man in his 40s died on 30 November after he was taken to hospital with serious injuries.
A spokesperson added all parties involved in the crash were spoken to on the evening of the incident and there have been no arrests.
Police have also confirmed the dog died at the scene.
One of Mr Obretetsky’s friends, Pavel Borovkov, has questioned the circumstances around his death.
“You know, people drive cars very carefully in London, I don’t exclude the fact that he was specially shot down,” he told Russian news agency Life.
His accusation follows a series of mysterious deaths of prominent Russians in the UK, including the death of Boris Berezovsky, a vocal critic of Vladimir Putin, in 2013.
However, there is no evidence to suggest Mr Obretetsky’s reported death is suspicious at this stage.
The agency also quoted Mr Borovkov as saying Mr Obretetsky lived in London but often returned to Russia for his work in real estate.
Surrey Police has said it is “continuing to investigate the circumstances around the collision” and appealed for witnesses to come forward with information.
