Russian airport bomb alert: Koltsovo International Airport evacuated

A Russian airport was evacuated following an anonymous phone call claimed it was going to be bombed today.

At least 150 people were told to leave Koltsovo International Airport, in the country's fourth-largest city of Yekaterinburg, the RIA Novosti state news agency reported.

Officials said all passengers were taken out of the terminal, while those arriving were being kept on planes and departures were delayed.

People stuck on their flights wrote on Twitter that aircraft were moved away from the terminal building while they say on the planes for more than two hours.

Police investigating the threat found nothing suspicious in a search of the airport and have declared it safe, Russia Today reported.

It came during a state of heightened alert in Russia sparked by a passenger jet crashing in Sinai a week ago today, after what British and American intelligence indicates could have been an Isis bomb attack.

Planes were being sent to take Russian tourists home after Vladimir Putin banned all flights to and from Egypt.

The UK suspended flights to Sharm el-Sheikh on Wednesday but planes started returning tourists to Britain yesterday, amid chaos over restrictions forbidding luggage from being put in the hold.
