Three teams remain in contention for second place in Group B at Euro 2020 as Russia and Denmark prepare to lock horns in Copenhagen this evening.
After opening their campaign with an insipid defeat against fancied Belgium, Russia bounced back to beat Finland 1-0 on home soil in Saint Petersburg courtesy of Aleksei Miranchuk’s terrific finish in first-half stoppage time.
They currently sit second in the group and another win at the Parken Stadium will see them safely through to the last 16.
Denmark lost their restarted opener 1-0 to Finland after the cardiac arrest suffered by star playmaker Christian Eriksen, who has now been discharged from hospital after a successful operation to fit a heart-starting device.
They then took an early lead in an emotional contest against the Belgians back in Copenhagen, only for substitute Kevin de Bruyne to inspire the world’s no1-ranked team to a 2-1 comeback win in a match that included a lovely tribute to Eriksen.

After two defeats, Denmark need to beat Russia on Monday and hope that Belgium take care of business at the same time against Finland in Saint Petersburg.
Date, kick-off time and venue
Russia vs Denmark is scheduled for an 8pm BST kick-off on Monday, June 21, 2021.

Russia vs Denmark prediction
Russia got their campaign up and running against Finland, but it was a poor affair settled by a moment of real quality from Miranchuk.
Denmark’s players and coaches have handled an incredibly difficult few weeks admirably and it is understandable if their minds still aren’t fully on the task at hand.
However, Eriksen being discharged from hospital is fantastic news and they will no doubt want to try and win for their team-mate, who has been back to visit.
Yussuf Poulsen’s goal against the Belgians will live long in the memory and with that sort of passion and emotion present in the stadium again in Copenhagen on Monday, we fancy the Danes to triumph.
2-0 Denmark win.
