Russia school stabbing: Knife attack leaves teacher and student in critical condition with 13 others injured

Fifteen people have been injured in a stabbing at a school in Russia after a knife fight broke out, according to authorities.

A 16-year-old student and a female teacher are in hospital fighting for their lives after both being stabbed in the neck, according to the regional health ministry.

The rest of those injured are understood to be students at the school.

Initial reports said unknown masked assailants had stormed the school in Perm, northeast of Moscow, on Monday morning.

Later reports suggested the incident was a knife fight that involved at least one former student, with people injured when they tried to break up the altercation.

Local security authorities said in a statement that other pupils and a female teacher had tried to break up the fight.

Images and videos circulated on social media from the scene showed blood on the floor and emergency crews in attendance.

Two suspects have been detained by police, it is understood.

The school, where almost 700 children studied, was evacuated, authorities said.
