Russia drone strikes on Ukraine kill five people and wound 30 more

  • Russian drone strikes across Ukraine overnight resulted in five deaths and 30 injuries, according to Ukrainian officials.
  • Ukraine's Air Force reported that 260 out of 286 Russian drones launched were successfully downed.
  • The attacks caused fatalities in Nikopol, injured residents in Sumy, and damaged infrastructure in multiple cities, including a fire in a Kyiv office building.
  • The strikes occurred as Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy travelled to Istanbul for discussions with Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Ecumenical Patriarch Bartholomew.
  • Russia claimed its forces targeted Ukrainian military and energy facilities, while also reporting that Ukrainian drone attacks killed one and injured five across its Rostov and Samara regions.
