Russell Wilson sends get-well message to Drew Brees

It’s important to remember that while the NFL is a highly-competitive league, the rivalries are largely friendly. Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson gave a nice shout out to injured New Orleans Saints quarterback Drew Brees while speaking with West2East Empire. Wilson had some nice words to say to the injured Brees and regrets not being able to seem him on the field during Sunday’s game between their two teams.

Wilson has often discussed the influence that Brees has had on his game, and the type of player he aspires to be. Wilson continues to show that inspiration Brees has given him over the years by emulating Brees through the consistent class he exhibits in all aspects of his game, including this get-well message to his idol:

Wilson has found another level to his game early on this season. After signing a $140 million, four-year extension with the Seahawks this past offseason the quarterback has gotten off to a quick start in earning every penny of the extension, throwing five touchdown passes in his first two games with no interceptions.

Brees recently shared a message on Instagram prior to surgery on his injured throwing hand, appearing with his wife Brittany Brees. The Saints quarterback will not be taking the field anytime soon in the next few weeks, and was almost assuredly looking forward to Sunday’s matchup against Wilson and the Seahawks. Instead, Teddy Bridgewater and Taysom Hill will get the nod in an attempt to defeat the Seahawks on the road.
