Russell Wilson is prepared should he play into 2nd half vs. Chargers

The Seattle Seahawks starters will likely see the most reps of their preseason this Saturday when the team squares off against the Los Angeles Chargers on the road. Quarterback Russell Wilson, who sat out the Seahawks’ first matchup of the summer, could play into the second half.

“Yeah, I’m not sure how much Coach has me playing, but you know I’m always ready,” Wilson said Thursday. “It’s good to get back out there. Obviously, last game getting back out there playing on the road, tough environment.”

Playing into the third quarter is important for a number of reasons, even during exhibition games. Wilson counts on the short break to make the necessary adjustments. After heading into the locker room, he has precious little time to get things right.

“For me, it’s really a good 12 minutes of processing everything that happened and getting ready for what’s about to happen in the next half and telling guys and talking to guys and thinking about what could we do this half,” Wilson explained. “You try and analyze what you did and try and get ready for what you’re about to do.”

After revealing too much about players expected to participate before Seattle’s first preseason game, coach Pete Carroll is being careful not to make the same mistake twice.

“We won’t be talking about playtimes, you’ll be asking but, we won’t be talking about playtimes,” Carroll said Wednesday. “I’m expecting everyone to play in this game and I’m looking forward to it.”
