Russell Wilson, Ciara and Macklemore join Sounders ownership group

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Russell Wilson and his wife, R&B superstar Ciara, have joined Seattle-based rapper Macklemore as part of the ownership of the Seattle Sounders FC.

Wilson continues his quest to get into the sports ownership world. He was part of the group dedicated to bringing a new basketball arena to Seattle with the hopes that an NBA team would relocate, and he is also an investor in the Portland Diamond Project, a group dedicated to bringing Major League Baseball to Portland.

“Ciara and I are fired up to announce we are Team Owners of the Seattle @SoundersFC one of the best soccer franchises in the world!” Wilson wrote on Twitter. “We can’t wait for our kids to grow up loving Soccer! Family is everything!”

The Wilson family and Macklemore are joined by Microsoft CEO Satya Nadella, while current majority owner Adrian Hanauer is increasing his ownership stake.

Hollywood producer Joe Roth, who helped bring the MLS to Seattle, is leaving the franchise.
