Russell Westbrook To Make Return Against Indiana Pacers After Surgery

Russell Westbrook scores 23 points, becoming 25th player in NBA history with 25,000 points

Russell Westbrook is set to make his return to the court on Monday night against the Indiana Pacers, marking a swift comeback just three weeks after undergoing surgery to repair a fractured left hand. The LA Clippers star guard will not be under a minutes restriction for his return, as confirmed by Clippers coach Ty Lue.

Westbrook sustained the injury on March 1 during a game against the Washington Wizards and promptly underwent surgery on March 4 to address the fracture. Lue expressed the team's anticipation for Westbrook's return, highlighting the energy and hustle that the former MVP point guard brings to the court, qualities that were notably missed during his absence. The Clippers managed a 6-6 record in Westbrook's absence.

Throughout the 58 games he has played this season, Westbrook has been contributing an average of 11.1 points, 5.1 rebounds, and 4.4 assists. Initially a starter for the team's first 10 games, Westbrook transitioned to a bench role following the James Harden trade to facilitate team chemistry. The Clippers notably achieved a 28-8 record from the time Westbrook began coming off the bench against the Houston Rockets on November 17 until his recent injury.

With Westbrook's return, the Clippers are poised to benefit from his veteran presence and leadership on the court. Harden expressed his excitement about having Westbrook back, emphasizing their shared goal of pursuing a championship title. Westbrook's return is expected to bolster the team's efforts towards achieving success in the ongoing season.
