The 39-year-old previously took charge of Southampton and helped them win promotion to the English Premier League last season.
He was sacked in December, though, and has been out of work since.
Martin could now be set to make a return to the dugout, taking charge of Leicester, who were relegated to the second tier following a poor 2024/25 campaign in which they finished third bottom in the Premier League.
He has been previously linked with the vacant managerial post at Rangers.
The Ibrox club are on the hunt for a permanent successor to Philippe Clement.
Davide Ancelotti, son of new Brazil manager Carlo, is a potential candidate.
It was previously anticipated that he might follow his father to South America, although that now won't be the case: "Davide is currently in negotiations with a European team, and it didn't seem right to bring him in," said Ancelotti Sr on Monday evening.
"If he goes to a club, I wish him the best, and if not, he can come back to us."
