Russell Martin explains decision to make 10 Rangers changes vs Alloa

Russell Martin has explained his decision to make 10 changes to his Rangers lineup against Alloa Athletic this evening.

The League One outfit visit Ibrox in the last 16 of the Premier Sports Cup.

Rangers come into the game off the back of a 4-2 aggregate victory over Viktoria Plzen in Champions League qualifying.

Martin has rang the changes from the second leg of the tie on Tuesday evening, with the likes of Emmanuel Fernandez, Max Aarons, Mikey Moore and Bailey Rice all coming in to start tonight.

"We have a lot of guys on the pitch who have trained outstandingly well over the past couple of weeks," Martin told RangersTV pre-match.

"We've gone for freshness today and opportunity. I'm excited to see who takes the opportunity. I'm confident we have a number of players who will.

"We have Mikey [Moore], and it's been frustrating for him not to be involved yet and Oscar [Cortes]. I'm really excited to see what they can do.

"We've had a busy schedule with some guys playing a lot of minutes, and who looked very tired at the end on Tuesday night.

"We have to put a team on the pitch that we think can produce a performance with high energy and be really forward thinking, and we've done that today."

Confirmed Rangers starting XI to face Alloa: Kelly, Aarons, Djiga, Fernandez, Cortes, Rothwell, Rice, Bajrami, Dowell, Moore, Danilo.

Subs: Butland, Tavernier, Barron, Aasgaard, Cameron, Antman, Igamane, Gentles, Curtis.
