Russell Martin backs Sunderland's experience to be a 'real advantage'

Russell Martin believes Sunderland's experience will "be a real advantage" as they take on Lincoln City this evening.

The MK Dons boss says that while the expectancy at Sunderland is "huge", the Wearsiders have the players to deal with the occasion.

The Black Cats are unbeaten against Lincoln City this season and head into the tie refreshed after a few days off following their draw with Northampton Town on the final day of the season.

Speaking to Sky Sports, Martin said: "I think the expectancy is huge and it's something Lee Johnson has spoken about a lot since he came through the door.

"I think they've got a lot of players that have played at a higher level and who've been in this situation before.

"I think it's going to be a real advantage for them because they've got players who are used to dealing with the big occasion.

"I think having 10,000 fans back at the Stadium of Light will be a huge boost for them.

"If they come off the back of tonight with a positive result they'll go back into that game and fancy their chances."
