Russell Martin answers Rangers quit question as he responds to fan flak

Russell Martin insists he will not quit as Rangers boss despite fans having turned on him.

There were more chants of "Martin, get to f**k" ringing around Ibrox this afternoon as the Englishman watched his side turn in another abject display to lose to Hearts by two goals to nil.

In an interview immediately after the match, Martin asnwered "we'll see" when asked if he thought the club would give him time to turn things around.

But he insists he won't be quitting of his own accord.

"Yeah, they're entitled to their opinion," when asked about the fans airing their views. "They're entitled to their opinion, so I can't come out here and criticise that. Yeah, the fans are always entitled to their opinion.

"I don't think many of them wanted me here in the first place. "

Asked if would walk, he answered simply: "No."

The Rangers boss felt his side were on the wrong end of three crucial decisions from the officials. There was a hint of a handball from Claudio Braga in the lead up to the opening goal, the home side had one ruled out for a foul on Alexander Schwolow and Mohamed Diomande denies he made any contact on Harry Milnle for the penalty that led to the second.

"We're on the side of three poor decisions in my opinion," added Martin. It's a handball for their first goal. Our goal is a goal. It's not a foul on the goalkeeper. And then Dio says he makes no contact. It's why it took so long.

"And we should have scored. We should have scored two or three. It was 1-0. We should have. But there's anxiety at the moment. The players are not the same team we see in training on Thursday and Friday when they go out and play in this environment right now. And that's not a criticism of anyone.

"So, to your emotion and your anger, I get it. I understand it. But we have to just keep working."
