Russell Martin felt the referee didn't get to see a true reflection of the incident that led to a disallowed Rangers goal against Club Brugge.
With his team trailing the Belgians 3-1, there was a chance to reduce the arrears going into next week's second leg.
Djeidi Gassama had the ball in the net but the referee ruled that visiting goalkeeper Simon Mignolet had the ball in both hands before it was kicked out, after a VAR review.
Former Rangers duo Allan McGregor and Scott Arfield were on punditry duty and both felt it was the right call. However, Martin claimed the referee was shown a still image straight away instead of an action replay and that may have affected his decision.
He said: "My only frustration with it is that VAR showed the referee a still image straight away without actually seeing the action first. So I'm not convinced his hand's on the ball before Dessers touches it.

"But it is what it is. So my only frustration is that I think they've already set the tone for the referee and made a decision for him by the time he goes to the screen."
Club Brugge boss Nicky Hayen claimed his side knew where the spaces would be to exploit even before the game started.
Martin gave his response to that and said anxiety from the stands contributed.
He added: "I think the first half, as I've just said, is completely different because of the anxiety and the emotion in the crowd. Second half, I'd say we hurt them as much as they hurt us.
"We're playing against a really good team. So at some point, they're going to have a moment, especially when we're 3-0 down and we're committing a lot of numbers forward. So, yeah, we will keep working to get better in every department."
