Russell Howard to play seven huge homecoming shows in Bristol

One of Bristol's most renowned comedians is set to play a string of huge homecoming shows in the city.

Russell Howard, who is loved across the globe for his everyday observations, will perform seven socially distanced shows at Ashton Gate as part of his worldwide Respite tour.

The shows were initially scheduled to take place at Bristol Hippodrome, but have been moved to the home of Bristol City FC and Bristol Bears due to the delay to the Government's roadmap out of lockdown.

Howard, who made headlines last year after storming out of a gig in Bristol because he was being filmed, said: "I’m delighted to announce my Bristol gigs in July can still happen, but due to social distancing we’ve changed venues and I will now be playing Respite at Bristol City.

"I can’t wait to see you soon."

The run takes place at Ashton Gate from July 5 - 10 and tickets are on general sale now on the 41-year-old's website.

Howard's 2017 sell out international tour, Round the World, saw him break the record for the biggest English speaking stand-up show in China and play a record-breaking 10-night run at the Royal Albert Hall, overtaking eight in a row jointly-held by Frank Sinatra and Barry Manilow.

The tour culminated with the global release of Netflix special Recalibrate.

Howard, who studied economics at the University of the West of England, also became the first comedian to perform in Australia and New Zealand following the end of the global lockdown earlier this year.

With an ever-growing fanbase, Howard has more than six million followers across his social media channels.
