Russell Crowe is showing off his physical transformation after shedding the 57 pounds he gained for a recent role.
The 62-year-old Kiwi actor intentionally bulked up to 278 pounds for his role as the late Fox News CEO Roger Ailes in the 2019 miniseries The Loudest Voice. He maintained the physique for his portrayal of Nazi leader Hermann Göring in the 2025 historical drama Nuremberg.
Following production on the latter, Crowe immediately hit the gym, debuting his slimmed-down figure last year at the Zurich Film Festival, where he was honored with the Golden Eye Award for Lifetime Achievement.
On Monday, the Oscar-winning Gladiator star shared another glimpse of his ripped physique in photos posted to X in celebration of his youngest son’s 20th birthday.
“20 years ago today, at 7 minutes to 7am, this amazing young man arrived in our lives. Happy Birthday Tenny,” Crowe wrote, alongside a series of photos, including one of him and his son flexing their arms.
Crowe shares his two sons, Charles and Tennyson, with ex-wife Danielle Spencer.
The Beautiful Mind actor previously revealed that although the extra weight helped him play Göring at his “most pompous,” it also took a major toll on his body. Speaking on the Fitzy, Wippa & Kate radio show in November 2025, he shared that he began receiving stem cell injections to treat his numerous injuries, which, in turn, made his workouts more effective.
He said that “instead of just going with the bulls*** diets [and] starvation,” he turned to science.
Crowe further opened up about his stunning weight loss during an episode of The Joe Rogan Experience podcast, crediting wellness program Ways2Well, which provides personalized health plans, for helping him shed the weight.
“I’ve probably connected with them about five times since that first time,” he said, noting that he went from about 278 pounds to around 222 pounds. “And the real benefit I’m getting, I think, because I’m not completely over the science, but it seems to be with these injections that I’ve been getting into my shoulders, my knees, but also these IVs, that it calmed down my body’s inflammation.”
He added: “Ways2Well was a great call for me because it calmed down a bunch of stuff. It’s taking a bunch of pain away so I can go and work out and not have to suffer for two or three hours afterwards.”
Crowe noted that he had also cut back drastically on his alcohol consumption. “If I decide to have a glass of wine with dinner, it’s going to be a really nice wine. It’s going to be an occasion,” he said. “I try not to have casual drinks now. Like, just have a drink for the sake of it.”
