Russell Crowe looks dramatically different as he supports coronavirus volunteer Johnny Vegas

Russell Crowe has given a glimpse of his time in lockdown by filming a video message supporting his pal Johnny Vegas' food delivery scheme.

Johnny, 49, is part of a volunteer group taking essential supplies to vulnerable residents and NHS staff in his hometown of St Helens in Lancashire.

The funnyman enlisted the Gladiator actor to help spread the work of the deliveries to those that need them.

Hollywood star Russell, 55, was seen sporting a full beard and glasses as he explained his pal, 49, is delivering food, medication and other goods to vulnerable residents.

In a video posted on Twitter, he explained: "G'day folks, how you doing? This is a message on behalf of my old mate Johnny Vegas.

The star continued: "If you're in the St Helens area, if you're having trouble getting food deliveries from your local supermarket.

"If you're NHS staff - a key worker, elderly, isolating, vulnerable, call this number," he said while giving out details of the charity.

Russell then made light of the situation as he flipped the camera to his array of Bafta and Oscars in the background.

He hilariously put on a British accent and said: "What's that back there? Oh look at that, that's fancy."

Meanwhile, Vegas has been posting on Twitter while dropping off shopping at the doorsteps of resident's homes in his local area.

"Proud of my town and how we, like so many others, are uniting through this crisis," he added.
