Russell Brand’s latest book savaged by critics for ‘crackpot conspiracy theories’

  • Russell Brand's new self-help memoir, How to Become a Christian in Seven Days, has been released to overwhelmingly negative reviews from critics.
  • The book follows Brand's “Christian redemption arc”, which began after he faced sexual assault allegations in 2023; he is due to stand trial later this year for rape and sexual assault charges, which he denies.
  • Brand, who was baptised in the River Thames in April 2024, has been criticised in reviews for using Christian ideology to promote “alt-right ideology” and for self-serving purposes.
  • Critics from The Telegraph, The i Paper, and The Times have lambasted the book for its verbose prose, “crackpot conspiracy theories”, and being an “offence against God”.
  • During a promotional interview on Piers Morgan's Uncensored, Brand struggled to locate a passage in the Bible that he claimed to have been reading in court, leading to widespread online mockery.
