Russell Brand cancels heartbroken couple's wedding after buying their pub venue

Russell Brand has cancelled a heartbroken couple's wedding after buying their venue.

The TV star recently purchased a Grade II-listed pub, named the Crown Inn, in Pishill, Oxon.

But the 42-year-old teetotal comedian is refusing to take over any wedding bookings made at the venue prior to his name above the door, a couple who planned to say 'I do' at the inn have claimed.

This means loved up couple Stephanie Wareham and Stephen Hare have been left devastated after booking their big day at the venue for May 28, 2022, reports The Mirror.

The betrothed pair claim they are now out £1,500 deposits for other expenses but have been refunded their £1,400 deposit.

Upset bride-to-be Stephanie, 29, told The Oxford Mail : "'Russell Brand cancelled my wedding' is not something I ever thought I'd say.

"It's quite sad he has been allowed to enjoy two of his own weddings and yet he's prevented us having one.

"You'd definitely think he would have the money to compensate all the couples he's let down."

Hopeful for some sort of compensation, she added: "You’d definitely think he would have the money to compensate all the devastated couples he’s let down by cancelling their weddings as a gesture of good will so I’ll wait to hear from him."

The Mirror has contacted a representative for Russell Brand for comment.
