Rush locals warned to be vigilant after gang of youths attempt to intimidate couple walking home from pub

Residents in Rush have been warned to be vigilant as a gang of youths attempted to intimidate and steal items from locals walking home from the pub.

One man was walking home from the boozer with his wife when they were set upon by a youth on a bike who demanded his phone and money.

But the couple refused to hand over their items, and were verbally abused as they continued walking home.

The scary incident was shared on a local social group, with residents calling it "frightening".

The man said: "People be safe myself and my wife were set upon by two youths on bikes opposite the old Garda station in Rush walking home from Walshes tonight.

"One looked like he was keeping watch as we walked up towards Garda station the other came out from around the corner demanding fones money etc jumped of a bike but as we kept walking did not follow but kept verbally abusing us.

"I have reported this to Garda. Stay safe."
