Drivers could face traffic chaos during rush hour after a busy main Liverpool road was closed due to a huge oil spill from an overturned tanker.
Merseyside Police and Liverpool City Council have confirmed that Brunswick Road leading onto Low Hill, will remain closed until the early hours of this evening.
The closure is as a result of a spillage, after a vehicle transporting lard overturned.

Motorists are advised to find an alternative route due to the closure and lane restrictions have been put in place on Boundary Street, Scotland Road and Islington, Erskine Street and Brunswick Road.
A clean up operation has been launched by Liverpool City Council t o clear the slippery road surface, which is expected to continue into rush hour tonight.

One lane could be reopened on Brunswick Road before this evening, but there is no indication of when this is likely to take place.
Photos from the scene show the chaos caused by the tanker, where sand has been laid to soak up the oil.
One driver said there was no sign of anyone cleaning up the oil at 12:35pm today.

She said: "There's huge delays to traffic on Brunswick Road and Low Hill. The spilt oil is covered in sand."
A spokesperson for Merseyside Police said: "Due to the extent of the Palm Oil spill, Brunswick Road towards West Derby Road will remain closed till the early evening, one lane may be re-opened but both lanes onto Low Hill are closed at present.
"Drivers are advised to find an alternative route."
