Rush hour delays on M8 as car engulfed in flames on busy road near Harthill

Police were forced to close a section of the M8 during rush hour today as a car burst into flames near Harthill, West Lothian.

The car went in flames at around 4pm this afternoon.

Emergency services remain at the scene eastbound on the busy motorway between Junction 5 and 6 where traffic is continuing to build, reports the Daily Record.

Road users are being advised to expect delays of up to half an hour as fire crews tackle the fireball on the white Range Rover.

Pictures from the scary scene depict a shocking sight of flames shooting from the engine of the vehicle, as thick smoke fills the air around the white Range Rover.
