Rural traffic calming bollards knocked down twice within days of going up

Bollards installed at a spot in Balfron were knocked down twice in a matter of days.

The posts had been put up at Printers Row as a traffic calming measure.

But one local took to social media last week to warn villagers they had taken a double dunt - and ask drivers to take more care.

Elaine Leijser said: “Just a reminder to everyone to take care at the new(ish) traffic calming at Printers Row.

“The posts were knocked over by a fast car leaving the village Saturday half past midnight.

“The council replaced them on Wednesday and yesterday someone entering the village drove over the new posts in the middle of the afternoon. Neither stopped by the way.

“Please slow down and take care.”

Tristan Campbell replied: “It’s not the best place for a chicane. It doesn’t really matter what speed you are doing, with cars parked on the street and then the bollards, it is an accident waiting to happen. I agree that for the most it does slow you down, but not for all.”

David Pollock added: “It’s a pretty awful layout, it’s going to get hit regularly.”

Amy Collie meanwhile said: “Most cars coming through the village are still way over 20mph. I can’t see how you could hit it if you are actually driving at the speed limit.”
