The Rural Development Programme for England has released a new round of funds for rural start-ups, businesses and social enterprises in North Somerset .
Grants are available for projects that improve agriculture, the environment and rural life such as improving buildings or buying new equipment.
Funding ranges from a minimum of £20,000 to a maximum of £750,000 and can meet up to 40 per cent of the project costs with the balance being provided by the applicant.
There are three types of fund available. These are:
Food processing
This is open to food and drink businesses that process agricultural or horticultural products.
Business development
For small business and start-ups, including farmers wishing to diversify into non-agricultural activities.
Rural tourism infrastructure
This is open to a wide range of organisations. If the project is intended to make a profit only small businesses and farmers who want to diversify can apply.
The deadline for Expressions of Interest is Sunday, February 16.
