Newly-married Rupert Murdoch has put his New York town house up for sale, with a price tag of $28.9m (£20.2m), reports one of his newspapers, The Australian.
It describes the 6,500 square foot property as a “circa 1850s Greek revival-style townhouse” in the West Village district on four levels with views of the Empire State building to the north and the World Trade Centre to the south. It contains a gym, wine cellar and screening room.
Variety reports that its red brick exterior “camouflages elegantly polished and sumptuously finished interiors with herringbone-pattern wood floors, black lacquered woodwork, and a trio marble-manteled fireplaces.”
It also refers to “a sensuously curved staircase” with four bedrooms and a “gleaming, all-white kitchen. A roof terrace “is expensively paved with Indiana limestone and has a pergola built of clear Spanish cedar.”
Real estate broker Dolly Lenz is quoted by the paper as saying: “It is an amazing home in the most coveted location in New York City, and after Mr Murdoch’s upgrades, is ready to move into in mint condition.”
News Corp chief executive Murdoch, who married Jerry Hall in March, bought the house in March 2015 for $25m (£17.5m). Photos and a floor plan can be found on Lenz’s website.
