Harry Potter star Rupert Grint has revealed that filming the franchise's eight movies back to back was "suffocating".
The 32-year-old, who played the optimistic Ron Weasley between 2001 and 2011, was speaking on Dax Shepard's Armchair Expert podcast and admits playing such a big role didn't come without its drawbacks.
"There was a time where it felt quite suffocating, because it was heavy going, because it was every day for 10 years in the end," he said.
He told the host that only two movies had been planned at the beginning but when he realised that he would spend a large chunk of his life devoted to the character it often felt like "homework".
"It just never ended," Rupert candidly admitted.
"Every year, we came back. And it was kind of like Groundhog Day because it was the same sets.
"Sometimes it definitely felt like, ‘I want to do something else. See what else is out there'."
He revealed he has only watched each of the movies once, apart from the first instalment which he recently returned to for the second time.
But Rupert doesn't plan on binge watching them any time soon.
While he says it's not because the filming was a bad experience, he admits he's very critical of himself and it has made him "so conscious of my face, like, what I'm doing."
The Servant actor was full of praise for the atmosphere on set, though.
"It was a great experience. Such a nice kind of family atmosphere. It was always the same crew we kind of grew up with, so it was a great place to be."
Rupert welcomed his first child to the world last May after his partner Georgia Groome, 29, gave birth to their daughter Wednesday.
He hinted that one day he may watch the movies with his daughter.
"Now I've got a kid. That's going to be a whole new kind of era," he added.
Rupert and the Angus, Thongs and Perfect Snogging star have been dating since 2011, but have previously tried to shy away from publicity.
