RuPaul's Drag Race Danny Beard has 'dream come true' with new Liverpool show

The latest winner of RuPaul’s Drag Race UK has announced the first two dates of their debut solo theatre tour.

Danny Beard, from Halewood, will be visiting their home city to put on a show which is “bigger, better, and more camp than ever before”.

The 30-year-old kicks off their initial shows with a special home town performance on Thursday, February 23 at Liverpool’s Playhouse and then onto a weekend show in London. Accompanied by a full live band, the show “promises to be packed full of humour, show-stopping music performances, and dazzling fashion”.

Danny told the ECHO: “This is gonna be the biggest solo show of mine to date. And I’m so proud to be able to share it with Liverpool first. It’s gonna have big numbers, big laughs and big costumes.

“Growing up in Halewood it was always a dream of mine to put on a solo show in the iconic playhouse. I’ve been going there watching theatre since a child, and now it’s my time to put on the best drag show Liverpool has ever seen. Well, that’s what I’m telling myself anyway.”

With over 163,000 Instagram followers and counting, the Liverpool-born performer broke records as the first bearded queen to appear on Drag Race UK And the first bearded queen to win any Drag Race franchise globally.

The self-proclaimed “sassy, shady, singing cartoon clown” took home the crown from the series for the second time for Liverpool with The Vivienne being the first-ever winner of the UK series.

Danny beat off the competition from twelve other performers and earned themselves the title of UK’s Next Drag Race Superstar - something which Danny previously told the ECHO “felt right” in their “heart of hearts”.

Since winning the BBC competition in November, Danny has been in huge demand. Most recently they have had a cameo role in Hollyoaks, presented Eurovision content, and have been selected to perform at Graham Norton’s Variety performance.

The show starts at 7:30 pm and is priced at £16 per person.
