Runway footage shows planes carrying thousands of Liverpool fans to Madrid

Liverpool fans have been flocking to Liverpool John Lennon Airport in their thousands today as they head out to Madrid for the Champions League final tomorrow.

Due to the huge demand dozens of planes have been chartered to fly out Redss fans desperate to be at the heart of the action when Liverpool take on Tottenham Hotspur on Saturday for the coveted European trophy.

Among them was a monster double decker Corsair 747 aircraft that left the airport with 500 Liverpool fans on board, it's the first time a two-tier plane has been at the airport since 2009.

It was just one of dozens of flights that took excited Reds out to the Spanish capital ahead of the final.

More flights are expected to leave again tomorrow morning to get fans to the city in time for Saturday's match.

An amazing video showed a flight full of Liverpool FC fans erupting into a rendition of 'Allez! Allez! Allez!’ as they travelled to Madrid on Friday.

The footage taken on a flight from Liverpool to Madrid shows them belting out the tune, which has become synonymous with the Reds’ Champions League journey.

Thousands more fans who aren't flying have found other routes taking them through other European transport hubs.
