A reliable car can easily become considered an important part of family life; whether it is for the everyday school run or a long distance holiday adventure. And while its uses might not last forever, the memories of cleaning up ketchup stains off seats and mucky finger prints off windows remain long after your last family excursion to Alton Towers.

We’d like to see your photos and stories of beloved family cars that might have been and gone but you still have a soft spot for. What made it so special? Is it a particular holiday memory that sticks in your mind, or a regular journey that you enjoyed doing together? Share your images and stories and we’ll feature a selection of them on the site.

You can share your images of family cars by clicking on the ‘Contribute’ button on this article. You can also use the Guardian app and search for ‘GuardianWitness assignments.’

  • GuardianWitness is the home of readers’ content on the Guardian. Contribute your video, pictures and stories, and browse news, reviews and creations submitted by others. Posts will be reviewed prior to publication on GuardianWitness, and the best pieces will feature on the Guardian site.
