Running back Rashaad Penny now ‘stronger and faster than he’s been’

The Seattle Seahawks saw exactly what they needed to from their running backs during Saturday’s mock game. The one-two punch of Chris Carson and Rashaad Penny looks to be as just as advertised.

“I thought both the runners on the blue team did really well, coach Pete Carroll said after the scrimmage. “They got good space; they made some good things happen. Chris had a couple really nice runs as well. Rashaad is doing great.”

With Mike Davis now with the Bears, Penny – in his second year – will be tasked with more of the load. It seems all his offseason preparation has paid off.

“Rashaad came back with his weight in a place where his body fat was way down from what it was before,” Carroll explained. “He had a great offseason, he’s stronger and faster than he’s been. He looks really, really good right now. We are really excited about it.”

Carson and Penny will get their first true test this summer when the Seahawks square off against the Broncos Thursday night at CenturyLink Field.
