The Seattle Seahawks excelled in the run game last season led by running back Chris Carson. Then-rookie Rashaad Penny and Mike Davis helped shoulder the load, but Carson emerged as the clear starter.

The plan apparently hasn’t changed for this year although there was some concern earlier this spring when coach Pete Carroll revealed Carson had undergone a knee scope procedure, which kept him out of the offseason activities.

Carson was active and present to start training camp Thursday morning.

“It was great to see him,” Carroll said after practice. “We have always recognized that Chris is such a well-conditioned guy. He works so hard, he’s in great shape again, and he had a very, very prosperous offseason coming and dealing with his issue. It was a minor issue, but he’s ready to go.”

Penny was the beneficiary of the extra reps while Carson was out, helping to solidify his place as the Seahawks No. 2 running back.
