Deputy national police chief Rungroj Saengkhram has been appointed as acting secretary-general of the Anti-Money Laundering Office (Amlo).
His appointment was approved by Prime Minister Prayut Chan-o-cha on Monday. Pol Gen Rungroj's nomination was also approved in the cabinet meeting last Thursday.
However, the order stipulates that Pol Gen Rungroj's term will be valid for just six months.
Pol Gen Rungroj replaced Pol Maj Gen Romsit Weeriyasan, who was transferred on Aug 14 to serve as an inspector-general attached to the Office of the Prime Minister under the National Council for Peace and Order chief's order No.12/2561. The order gave no reason for the transfer of Pol Maj Gen Romsit, who was in the position for only six weeks.
Pol Gen Rungroj will still serve as deputy commissioner general of the Royal Thai Police.
He has overseen many cases, such as crackdowns on zero-dollar tour scams, suppliers of unlawful cosmetics, and influential figures in Don Muang district.
