Rundown for Vikings in recent 4-round mock draft

Our guy Luke Easterling put together a four-round mock draft earlier this week over at Draft Wire.

It’s full of trades and other fun stuff, just like the actual draft!

Here’s a rundown of who the Vikings took in Easterling’s draft:

1st round (18th pick): OT, Dalton Risner, Kansas State
2nd round (50th pick): DL, Charles Omenihu, Texas
3rd round (81st pick): LB, Ben Burr-Kirven, Washington
4th round (113th pick): OL, Ben Powers, Oklahoma

As I’ve written before, at this point in the mock draft process, I would pay more attention to the positions that are being taken rather than the actual players. And the positions here make sense. With Risner and Powers, the team is getting two offensive lineman – much needed, obviously.

With Omeniu, you’re getting a defensive lineman with the possible Sheldon Richardson departure. The same goes for Burr-Kirven with the possible Anthony Barr departure.

Other positions I could see the Vikings addressing in the draft include receiver, tight end, safety and running back.
