Runaway moped caught by police found with '30 bags of drugs'

Police have seized 30 bags of drugs after an offender ‘made off’ on a moped in Rochdale. Officers also took the moped after realising the driver had no insurance and was wanted over criminal damage allegations.

The offender was taken into custody. The force apologised to all those ‘who didn’t have their drugs delivered last night’.

This action was part of a number of ‘enforcement days’ being conducted by Greater Manchester Police in the area this week.

Sharing the post on social media, GMP Rochdale said: “Well, this week it is all GO GO GO (apart from the offender on the moped who got a trip to custody). Yesterday our P1 Neighbourhood officers conducted a further enforcement day resulting in some more amazing results.

“After a moped made off from us, we soon realised why. Neighbourhood Beat Officers caught, arrested and seized the moped.

“With 30 bags of drugs found and seized. That's one moped off the streets and 30 bags of drugs off the area.

“To make the situation worse, the offender was driving with no insurance and was also wanted for criminal damage. If you didn't have your drugs delivered last night we apologise for any inconvenience caused, feel free to get in touch.

“If you have any information on crime within the Rochdale area please continue to report so we can achieve the results via: 999 in an emergency, 101 in a non emergency, GMP website or Crimestoppers website (report anonymously).”
