Runaway cows bring traffic to standstill in Hartcliffe

Hartcliffe residents were left 'bemoosed' earlier today after a group of cows escaped from a nearby farm.

The escapees were spotted roaming in Bishport Avenue at around midday, causing traffic to build up in the area.

One eyewitness told Bristol Live that the cows had caused her to be at least 30 minutes late for work.

The plucky group were moved to a grassy area next to the road, where they were soon picked up by staff members from Hartcliffe Community Park Farm.

A spokeswoman from the farm confirmed the cows had been safely returned without any further issue.

This is not the first time runaway animals have caused traffic chaos.

Earlier this year, a group of adventurous sheep caused traffic to be held after escaping on the  M4.

They were eventually returned home with the help of a local farmer and his dog.
