Runaway bull sends police on three-hour chase as it runs wild through gardens and driveways

Chaos ensued in a residential area in Texas, as a runaway bull embarked on a three-hour escapade, leading local police on a relentless chase.

The Denton Police Department shared a video showcasing the dramatic pursuit, which involved officers manoeuvring through driveways and traversing people's yards in an effort to capture the rogue animal on Saturday (3 June).

Denton PD spokesperson Amy Cunningham expressed surprise at the nature of the call they received that night, stating, "We didn't expect to get that type of call."

Initially, the police received reports of a loose cow, presumed to have escaped while its owner stopped for a meal at a nearby restaurant.

However, it turned out that the elusive creature was actually a bull, and it was far from cooperative when it came to returning to its trailer.

The police spokesperson said: "The owner had just stopped at a local restaurant and went in for a bite to eat. Somehow, the trailer opened up, and the bull was able to get out. We're still investigating exactly how that happened."

A three-hour-long chase began around 9 p.m. with police, deputies, animal services and even helpful citizens trying to help reign in the loose animal.

A local rancher with a tranquillizer was summoned for help and, after a three-hour chase, the animal was darted and returned to its trailer.

The situation was resolved without any injuries or major damage, aside from some shaken nerves and perhaps a few trampled flower beds.

Denton police are looking for surveillance video near where the trailer was parked in hope of it shedding light on how the bull got out to begin with.
