- A cricket match at Burnopfield Cricket Club near Newcastle was brought to an early end after a runaway bull stormed the pitch.
- Footage captured by club director Martin Oswell showed the animal, which had escaped from a nearby farm, running around the field and charging at players.
- The North East Premier League fixture was eventually called off as attempts to remove the "spooked" young bull proved futile.
- Mr Oswell initially found the situation "quite novel" and "quite funny" before realising it would lead to the game's abandonment.
- The bull later left the pitch "of its own accord" before police arrived at the scene.
