‘Run don’t walk!’: Georgia Walmart customer finds $0.92 gallon of milk. Why is it so cheap?

A Georgia woman urges other shoppers to check the price of milk at their local Walmart. In her area, it is less than $1 per gallon.

TikTok user @cpnoel posted a video with her discovery earlier this week. “Y’all, I am at Walmart in Grovetown, Georgia, and I want you to see how cheap this milk is,” she says. “Milk is normally like $4, maybe? Here it is.”

She flips the camera around and shows that a gallon of Great Value milk is priced at $.92. The half gallons are priced at $.53.

The TikToker can’t believe her eyes. “What is going on?” she asks. “I got two gallons. And before y’all come for me: None of this is out of date. The expiration date is Oct. 1. So, go to Walmart.”

Viewers React to the $.92 Walmart Milk

In the comments section, viewers reacted to Cpnoel’s discovery and compared the price of milk in Grovetown to their local Walmart’s price.

“They probably over ordered milk and now need to sell it off before it goes bad,” guessed one person.

“That’s that radioactive milk like the radioactive shrimp they had,” joked a second viewer.

“Not in Maryland, it’s not $.92,” countered a third person.

Someone else said it could be a pricing error. “I promise it’s a typo,” they wrote. “They had the expensive caprese links for $.99 for TWO WEEKS before someone noticed. I stocked up.”

What’s Going On With This Great Value Milk Pricing?

Despite the skepticism in the comments, it does appear some Georgia Walmart stores are selling milk at this price point. The store in Hephzibah promoted the deal on Facebook and urged customers to get the product while supplies last.

In her own comment, Cpnoel attributed the low price to a milk processing facility Walmart opened in Valdosta, Georgia, two years ago. The facility is part of a company-wide strategy to expand its processing facilities, reinforce the supply chain, and ultimately ward off price fluctuations

In a Reddit post to r/Walmart five months ago, a user criticized the taste of its milk. Several users, however, defended the milk and pointed out that Walmart owns the processing facilities and not the actual dairies that produce the milk.

According to the Associated Press, Walmart sources its milk from “a handful” of the nation’s largest dairy farms. Of course, that raises concerns about the impacts of Walmart’s purchasing power on smaller dairy operations.
