Rumours of new Banksy street art in Hucknall quashed as artist claims work

It's only been a month since the world-renowned street artist 'Banksy' visited Nottingham and created their latest work that brought joy to the city.

The mural, painted on a wall in Rothesay Avenue, between Radford and Lenton, became known to residents on Thursday (October 15).

It depicts a young girl hula-hooping with the missing tyre of a nearby bicycle, and its stencil style caused speculation to mount over whether it was indeed a Banksy original.

An Instagram post later made by the street artist confirmed the news.

But since then a new piece of street art emerged in Hucknall causing speculation and excitement that 'Banksy' may have visited again.

The artwork created on a brick wall in the town centre, off High Street, depicts a person sat down with their head in their arms with the word 'Shillin' above them.

With similar stencil styles, many started to think 'Banksy' had revisited the area with this latest creation.

An anonymous artist who goes by the name of 'shillinart' has since claimed the work on their Instagram page with a post made on November 18.

Their Instagram bio simply states: "Don’t ask my real name."
