With GTA 6 pre-orders right around the corner, one prolific leaker claims that certain rumored prices for Rockstar Games's upcoming behemoth aren't actually accurate, which could be good news if you were fearing for your wallet.
Over the last few days, fans spotted that French retailer Fnac had posted five mysterious listings on its site, named RS1, RS2, RS3, RS4, and RS4, all releasing on November 19 – GTA 6's release date. Folks quickly assumed these could be placeholder listings for the upcoming GTA 6 pre-orders, with the different prices reflecting different editions, from the standard game to a pricier collector's edition.
Either way, it appeared that the game wasn't going to come cheap. The lowest price was €89.99, while the highest was €199.99, suggesting that even a basic copy of the game with no extras would be more expensive than most games on the market. Well, according to reliable leaker Billbil-kun, these listed prices don't mean anything at all.
"Those SKUs are just placeholders bcz EAN codes (like UPC in US) aren't belonging to Take2 traditional games prefixes," Billbil-kun writes on Twitter. Regardless of whether you keep up with the technicalities of European Article Numbers or not, the point is simple: "Those prices are random ones," the leaker claims.
Looks like many people (including R*) are trying to disturb my holidaysThose SKUs are just placeholders bcz EAN codes (like UPC in US) aren’t belonging to Take2 traditional games prefixesSo those prices are random ones(& Sorry, w/o my PC, can’t do much to get real prices) pic.twitter.com/E7982km1lhJune 21, 2026
Billbil-kun "can't do much to get real prices" right now, but based on their track record of accurate leaked prices, special editions, and more for countless other games, it's definitely worth considering their perspective here. I'd imagine that there's still a chance that the prices could end up being correct, but it sounds like that'd be a coincidence more than anything else.
One thing is for sure: we don't have long to wait to find out. Last week, Rockstar Games announced that pre-orders for GTA 6 will go live on June 25, and people are going to need to know how much they're spending to put those pre-orders in. Fears of a $100 price for GTA 6 have been lingering for months at this point – it'll be interesting to see if those end up coming to pass, or if Rockstar surprises us all with the deal of the year.
